     Gayle was born on June 7, 1954 in Peoria, a daughter of John and Grace (Gilkison) Antle. Her father preceded her in death. She married David A. Brown, Sr. on July 21, 2001 at Mt. Hawley Community Church in Peoria. He survives.

     She is also survived by her mother, Grace Antle of Peoria; sisters, Sharon L. (Roger) Worman of San Diego, CA and Sue Elliott of Peoria; nieces, Cally (Anderson) Puckett of Healdsburg, CA, Courtney (Ryan) VanBiene of San Diego, CA and Carly (Ed) Emken of Peoria; two great nieces; step-son David A. Brown, Jr. of Bellevue; step-daughter, Courtney (Brian) Scudder of Pekin; step-grandson, Ryan Scudder of Pekin; and several step nieces and nephews.

     Gayle attended Illinois State University for three years and transferred to Evangel University in Springfield, MO, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and Teaching.

     From 1978 to 1979, Gayle served as a teacher for the Mission America Placement Service (MAPS) in Samoa.

     Gayle was a teacher at the Salvation Army Child Care Center in downtown Peoria, for the last twenty-two years, last working on December 19th of this year. She was formerly employed at the First Assembly of God Day Care in Peoria. She was always proud of her students at their spring graduation.

     Gayle was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Peoria and volunteered in their Discovery Land children’s department. She loved spending time in Puddle’s Pond at Northwoods, teaching and spending time with her family - especially at holiday dinners.

     Gayle enjoyed reading; listening to the Oak Ridge Boys, Allison Durham Speer and Gospel music; and collecting Boyds Bears. Gayle had a strong Christian faith and never met a stranger. She will be remembered as a very loving, generous and caring woman.
